The problem , what do do with your Flash Memory ?
Today, I am going to show you how to make your Flash Drive work for you , how to improve your preformance (under xp) with it, plus add your favorite programs inside it.
So lets start by making a Menu like we did below. I wanted a way to get online, get my mail, and setup or run a few programs.
 Let's Download & Run Your Menu Creator , I choosed :
After it installs run it. Next, You must know the drive letter of your Flash Drive and type it in the box , Click NEXT
Now we have 2 options. (a) Launch Program or (b) Display a menu
For our example click on "Display Menu" then click NEXT
To add to the menu click on " Add Documents" and the path to your programs you wish to install. I had Firefox & ThunderBird Portable Editions on my desktop , so I stopped right here bouncing between 2 open windows and installed my Firefox 3.0 Beta Portable Edition & took the time to install Thunderbird as well. It's quick & easy ...
Take the time to click on the 2 links I left behind. Get your explorer and email programs now and install them on your flash drive. Do not worry about Icons or anything like that, just program your flash drive for your liking. (Example : Theme's & Addon's For FF)
What we should have going is our menu program waiting for us in an open window, Firefox 3.0 & Thunderbird have been installed so your directory would look like :
Oops ? We forgot a few programs. No problem here are the links to each, install them now.
They are ClamWinPortable (Anti Virus) , EraserPortable and 7 Zip Portable. Lets get these 3 loaded on your flash dirve, there is no need to run them just yet at this point, but we need these programs for our project as well.
So now we have something to add to our Menu. Our programs have been installed, now all we have to do is find them. That's easy. So lets jump back to our AutoRunTool window and start programming some buttons up (we will be adding more later).
Clicking on "Add Document" will pop a window like this. Just click on the select button, and browse to the directory where you have Firefox 3 installed on. You are able to Edit the title or use the default one provided. Once your done click NEXT
Again Click on "Add Document" repeating our Firefox steps to find our Thunderbird Program. Once done again click NEXT
Okay now we have Button 1 and 2 programmed up so lets add more goodies to our list. Let's leave our AutoRunTool window (open) and jump to a new one once again. We are going to finish downloading the rest of our programs and get them installed , so we can program up a nice 15 buttons incase of Emergency !
Buttons we will program up are :
Take the time to click on each of the hyperlinks I left you and download the files you are missing.
Install any program we have "Run" listed next to (see above). Any program we have "Setup" next to , copy it directly to your Flash Drive. Those programs we are keeping a backup copy of.
( 6 Installs & 6 Saved Programs) lets not worry about Fix It For now. Just our 12 programs, and we will get to the last one in a few moments. Fix It now is at version 8. I have version 4 and 6 , so I have put version 4 on my Flash Drive. It's 128 Megs are starting to get full !
Okay now we have all our programs we will ever need. So off you go, and program up each of the buttons to start our programs up if we choose to. They are in order , so use our list as a guide. Click "Add Documents" and the path to each program in the above list.
Bottom Line : What we have here , is a flash drive that as an Explorer on it, Email , Performance enhancers (For XP) , Wireless Sniffing capability , Anti Virus, Privacy protection , and a way to fix our system if it ever crashes.
Very nice. The only thing that is missing is my Toolbar to the OS9USER News Room. But, I will download that later after I patch-up Firefox 3 to run Firefox 2's Extensions. More on that later !
These 15 programs I use constantly, and now have them all in one place. If I have to leave for any reason now, I make sure my Flash Drive is with me (For I Never leave home without it).
