Google and IBM have joined together in what they believe to be a revolutionary cloud computing effort. A cloud is brewing on the Net horizon, bringing a storm of new applications.
The profusion of cheap storage, software that can run a single massive application across thousands of low-cost servers, and near-ubiquitous Net access have created a virtual supercomputer accessible from your pocket.
That's why companies such as Amazon, Google and IBM, and Microsoft are jostling to offer cloud computing--applications that run on vast server farms instead of on local networks or desktop PCs, delivered across an Internet connection to corporations and consumers.
If you've ever used Google Docs, Salesforce.com, Yahoo Mail, or Zoho Writer, you've experienced cloud computing.

Woman in U-Haul leads police on wild chase
(NECN) - A woman in a reportedly stolen U-Haul truck was involved in a chase with California Highway Patrol officers. The chase lasted approximately one hour, and the woman was taken into custody.
At the end of the chase the woman stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road, and fled on foot. She attempted to gain access to the passenger side of another car, but that car drove off.
An officer caught up with the suspect, and took her into custody.
