Google is now the focus of a multi-state investigation into how it collected and what it has done with private data. The data was collected during sweeps for its Street Views site.
Richard Blumenthal started this probe a few weeks back and has even more questions than when he started. Now, dozens of other states are signing on to find out what Google knows, when did it know it and what it did with it.
Google scooped up sensitive data such as passwords when putting together its Street View service, suggests an early look at the information.
The examination was carried out by French data protection agency CNIL as it decides whether to prosecute the search firm for gathering the data.
