The Seattle police Office of Professional Accountability is investigating an officer seen on video punching a young woman in the face.
The incident, captured by a witness on video and broadcast on Seattle television stations, comes as Mayor Mike McGinn is nearing a decision on whether to pick Diaz (current Seattle Police Chief )as permanent police chief or the other finalist, East Palo Alto, Calif., Police Chief Ron Davis.
Acting Deputy Chief Nick Metz said during a news conference on Tuesday that the review was not meant as a criticism of the officer's actions, but would examine police training tactics.
